I didnt see this thread so Ill repost what I posted elsewhere in here. Seems like I might stir the pot a bit but oh well.
This was my first episode watched and this event was an outrage an absolute joke! Out of the athletes competing Lote was the one I was hoping would win, mainly because I like rugby union the most. lol. But Once it was shown to be an endurance method of bench pressing at a %of the participants bodyweight I knew Lote had no chance. Rugby guys are all about power, not repetition after repetition. Anyone thats ever touched a weight could recognise that power and endurance are two massively different things. Also, Anyone who has ever touched a weight as well would recognise that a bench press isn’t counted unless you touch your chest. Which makes Billy Slater the true winner!!! The wussy AFL player didnt even bring the bar to his chest on at least 10 of his repetitions! Infact, the highlights package at the end of todays episode, recapped on his poor performance and the bar only touched his chest once out of 5 or 6 repetitions. Such an unfair advantage to stop before you touch the chest and I would almost guarentee he would score 10 less repetitions to score 25 or less then what he did if they were all completed properly (to his chest)Like all other contestants did…
For the show to redeem any credibility, they should disqualify the AFL player or make him do the challenge again, watching his reps so that they are done properly. I recognise the show is about fun as well but his performance was just ridiculously poor and his win was luckier then the lotto.
The soccer player was the biggest suprise package and when you consider he wouldnt train specifally for bench press and he benched better then the AFL player who does, good effort. In summary, AFL is the weakest football code in Australia.
